KATHMANDU: The government has amended the qualifications for the post of chairman of Nepal Insurance Authority (NEA) through an ordinance.\u00a0The government has amended the Insurance Act-2079 through the Ordinance to amend some Nepal Acts, 2083 BS to make any person with Master’s level or equivalent educational qualification in engineering eligible for appointment as the chairperson. <\/p>\n
According to Clause 8 of the Insurance Act, 2079, the candidate should have a Master’s degree or equivalent in insurance, monetary banking, finance, commerce, public administration, statistics, mathematics, economics or law. <\/p>\n
With the amendment of the Act through the ordinance, technical experts who have studied engineering will also be eligible to be appointed to the post of Chairman of the Insurance Authority. <\/p>\n
Similarly, technical joint-secretary of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure will also get an opportunity to represent the board member. The sub-section (1) (c) of Section 6 of the Insurance Act, 2079 has added the provision of ‘Joint Secretary (Technical), member of the Ministry looking after the physical infrastructure sector’ by adding (c1). Clause 1 (c) of the constitution stipulated that the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs would be a member. Now, with the amendment of the provisions of the Act, the joint secretary of either the Ministry of Law or Ministry of Physical Infrastructure will be appointed as a member.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
