Income inequalities are becoming increasingly evident in the global insurance industry. Top executives earn many times more than frontline agents. This gap widens in terms of area, experience, and responsibilities.

Insurance sales agents in North America generally earn a good salary. However, this is largely based on commission. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the average annual income of an insurance agent in the United States is about $60,000. Skilled agents can earn more than $90,000 annually, including commissions and bonuses.

In Canada, a pay structure based on similar performance has been observed.

Top executives, on the other hand, earn substantial income. According to data published by major US insurance companies, CEOs receive millions of dollars in annual payments. This package includes the base salary, performance bonus, stock options and long-term incentives.

In Europe, salaries vary from country to country. The average annual income of an insurance agent in Germany ranges from 50,000 euros to 60,000 euros. The basic salary in the UK is very low. It’s usually around £30,000. However, commissions can significantly increase total income.

By 2025, the average salary budget in the European insurance sector is expected to increase by 3% to 4%. This reflects changes in the labour market and cost pressures.

However, salary structures in Asia are much lower. There is a big difference between countries. Insurance agents in Japan earn an average of 6 million to 7 million yen per year. In emerging markets such as China and India, entry-level wages are much lower. Income in China is usually around 2 lakh yuan per year and between Indian 1 lakh and Indian 4 lakh rupees in India. However, experienced agents can earn significantly more through commissions and client portfolios.

Globally, most insurance agents typically earn between $30,000 and $80,000 per year. Whose earnings fluctuate on the basis of performance. In contrast, especially in North America and Europe, the total executive-level income often exceeds $9 million.

According to insurance industry experts, this income gap has existed as a structural reality for a long time. But in recent years, it’s become more pronounced.

Agents rely on performance-based and uncertain income. Whereas executives enjoy higher salaries and long-term incentives. –Agency

Kathmandu.
