In a notification issued on March 26, the Finance Ministry reduced excise duty on petrol to Rs 3 per litre from Rs 13 per litre. However, excise duty on diesel per liter has been completely removed. The ministry said the cuts would come into effect immediately. <\/p>\n
After reducing the excise duty on petrol and diesel, the big question now is whether their prices will also come down or not. This news may not be very comforting to the average consumer. According to sources, the price of petrol and diesel is unlikely to come down at the pump. However, oil marketing companies will directly benefit from this. <\/p>\n
