The Nepal Army has taken the responsibility of monitoring the security arrangements at the polling stations and making them efficient. Security personnel from all three security agencies have been deployed under the command of the Nepal Army. <\/p>\n
The army has been conducting on-site inspections of polling stations across the country throughout the day on Tuesday. All security arrangements have been made for ballot boxes, ballot papers and polling centres, the Election Commission said. <\/p>\n
Nepal Army and Armed Police Force (APF) personnel have been patrolling the polling booths on foot for the security of the polling centres. Apart from this, the security personnel have also patrolled with vehicles. The army and police are patrolling the area where there are no four-wheelers. <\/p>\n
Security officials have directed polling station chiefs to take necessary precautions, anticipating that the weapons looted during the protests on September 7 and 24 could pose a threat to election security. Necessary arrangements have been made for the transportation of ballot boxes from the polling centre to the vote counting centre and for the security of the ballot boxes and ballot papers at the polling centre, said Election Commission Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai. <\/p>\n
Although the government has declared a three-day public holiday in view of the general election to the House of Representatives scheduled for March 4, the branches of the banks where the candidates have bank accounts will be opened. <\/p>\n
KATHMANDU: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), the central bank of Nepal, has made arrangements for the deposit of revenue in the financial services through the Office of the Financial Comptroller General on account of the upcoming holidays. <\/p>\n
The Office of the Financial Comptroller and Treasury has operated services related to election, payment and revenue payment. For this purpose, the office has deputed technical human resources for the operation of the system and made arrangements for uninterrupted service delivery, the commission said. <\/p>\n
