The government has spent more than Rs 30 billion on salaries and allowances of employees till the second quarter of 2018. <\/p>\n<p>According to the data released by Nepal Rastra Bank, 20 commercial banks have spent a total of Rs 30.15 billion in the current fiscal year. Compared to the previous year, the expenses of 17 banks have increased while the expenses of three banks have decreased. <\/p>\n<p>Rastriya Banijya Bank (RBB) has spent the highest amount of Rs 2.31 billion in salary and allowances till January of the current fiscal year. The bank had spent Rs 2.07 billion in the same period last year. Compared to the previous year, the bank&#8217;s expenses increased by 11.59 percent. <\/p>\n<p>Similarly, Nabil Bank is the second highest consumer in salary and allowances of employees. As of December, the bank has spent a total of Rs 2.14 billion. It had spent Rs 1.86 billion in the same period of the previous year. Compared to the previous year, the bank&#8217;s expenses increased by 14.73 percent. <\/p>\n<p>Global IME Bank is the third highest spender. In the review period of the previous year, the bank spent Rs 1.84 billion on salaries and allowances of its employees, which increased by 11.32 percent to Rs 2.05 billion in the review period. <\/p>\n<p>Citizen Bank has the highest rate of 22.97 percent in terms of increase in the salary and allowances of employees. In the review period of the previous year, the bank spent Rs 83.89 crore which increased to Rs 1.03 billion in the review period. <\/p>\n<p>As of the review period, Standard Chartered Bank has spent the least amount on salary and allowances of employees. The bank has spent Rs 52.22 crore. The bank had spent Rs 54.30 crore in the same period last year.
