Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) has handed over various equipment required for the Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology (NBSM). The federation handed over equipment worth around Rs 20 lakh required for testing the quality of shoes and garments. <\/p>\n
The department’s laboratory was damaged by fire and vandalism during the Genji agitation on September 7 and 24. Due to this, the equipment used in the quality testing of shoes and garments was also damaged and it was difficult for the department to test the quality of the goods related to it. <\/p>\n
After the handover of the equipment, it will be easier for both the department and the shoe and garment industry. The CNI handed over the equipment amidst a programme organized at Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology on February 12. <\/p>\n
On the occasion, Confederation President Birendra Raj Pandey said that the Department has been provided with the necessary equipment and equipment for the quality test of shoes and garments with the objective of helping the private sector entrepreneurs in business promotion by facilitating the certification of products as quality certification is very important in the production and marketing of domestic goods. <\/p>\n

On the occasion, Director General of the Department, Kumari Jyoti Joshi Bhatta, said that the department suffered losses during the Genji agitation and the laboratory equipment were destroyed, which has caused problems in testing the quality of domestic products. <\/p>\n
Director General Bhatta said that the Department does not have the testing facility in its own laboratory for quality certification and the samples have to be sent to neighboring countries and this will take more time and cost of testing, which will increase the overall cost of production of the goods and affect their competitiveness. <\/p>\n
“The initiative taken by the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) to provide necessary machinery and equipment for the laboratories of the department will help test the quality of shoes and garments,” he said.
