This is the fourth consecutive year that the demand for gold has increased. Since 2021, the demand for gold has increased by 292 tonnes. In US dollar terms, the demand for gold has increased by 45 percent last year. During this period, the world has bought gold worth $ 552 billion. <\/p>\n
Last year, global ETF holdings increased by 801 tonnes year-on-year. This is the second largest increase in history. The demand for bars and coins has also reached 1,374 tons. That’s the highest in 12 years. During this period, the world’s central banks bought 863 tonnes of gold. This is the fourth largest purchase in a single year in history. This is higher than the average annual procurement of 473 tonnes from 2010 to 2021. <\/p>\n
Who has the most gold? <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Since 2021, the purchase of gold has been increasing continuously. In recent years, central banks in countries such as India, China, Turkey and Poland have made significant purchases. After Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, many countries around the world are increasing the share of gold in their foreign exchange reserves. <\/p>\n According to media reports, China is secretly increasing its gold reserves. However, China officially bought 27 tonnes of gold last year. Experts estimate the total procurement to be around 270 tonnes. Experts believe that China’s increase in gold reserves means that the world is on the verge of a major disaster. <\/p>\n Yet, no one comes close to the United States when it comes to gold reserves. The world’s largest economy has 8,133 tonnes of gold reserves. Interestingly, the U.S. hasn’t made any major changes to this stockpile for many years.
