Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Executive Director of Health Insurance Board (HIB) Dr Raghu Raj Kafle has resigned from his post on Tuesday. <\/p>\n
Kafle submitted his resignation to the Prime Minister through the Health Ministry. He was appointed as the executive director of the Insurance Board during the tenure of then Health Minister Pradip Poudel. <\/p>\n
Pressure was mounted on the Insurance Board after big government hospitals like Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital and Gangalal Heart Centre shut down the health insurance programme, citing that they have not been paid their claims of late. According to a source at the board, Kafle might have resigned from his post after some hospitals started exerting pressure on him to run the health insurance program as they were yet to receive the payment. <\/p>\n
Information Officer of Insurance Board Bikesh Malla confirmed that Kafle has resigned from the ministry today. “We have heard that he has resigned, but we know the reasons for his resignation,” he said. He may have resigned from the ministry with a reason. \u2019<\/p>\n
People’s participation in health insurance programme has been increasing in recent years. However, the insured people are in trouble as the hospitals have not shown any interest in the service delivery, expressing dissatisfaction over the claim payment. <\/p>\n
