Considering the increasing number of wild bear attacks in Japan and other tourist destinations, Blue Cross (Asia Pacific) Insurance has launched a limited period bear attack additional coverage (Bear Attack Additional Coverage) insurance plan. <\/p>\n<p>Through March 31, 2026, its travel insurance products will provide an additional $385.29 in cash if a traveler is attacked by a bear and requires medical treatment overseas. According to the company, this insurance coverage will apply to bear-affected areas around the world. <\/p>\n<p>Climate change and habitat change have led to bears appearing in areas inhabited by humans. Wild bear attacks are on the rise in Japan&#8217;s tourist areas such as Hokkaido, Tohoku, Nagano and Shirakawa-go. <\/p>\n<p>The Blue Cross advises passengers not to run, to retreat slowly and to protect their head, neck and abdomen in case of a bear encounter. To promote this travel coverage, the company will provide SmartClub members with an electronic premium coupon worth $6.42. This coupon can be used with Travel Smart plan and other promo codes.
