Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Russian public joint stock company United Aircraft Corporation have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to manufacture the SJ-100 passenger aircraft. <\/p>\n<p>The agreement was signed in Moscow on Monday. HAL has issued a statement in this regard. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The SJ-100 is a small twin-engine aircraft. More than 200 aircraft have been built to date and they are operated by more than 16 airlines. \u2019<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The SJ-100 will be a game changer for short-haul flights under UDAN scheme in India. As per the agreement, HAL will have the right to manufacture the SJ-100 aircraft for domestic passengers. <\/p>\n<p>According to HAL, this will be the first time in India that the passenger aircraft will be fully manufactured in the country. HAL had earlier started manufacturing the Avro HS-748 aircraft in 1961. Its production was discontinued in 1988.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kathmandu.
