Kathmandu. In a shocking incident, a young man in neighbouring India submitted a different cause of his grandfather’s death to an insurance company. <\/p>\n
The incident took place in Jaipur, India. Two months before the death of the elderly Sonpal Singh, who was facing a serious illness, he was insured for about Rs 70 lakh from 7 different companies. Sonpal died of a heart attack. However, his grandson, Gaurishankar, presented evidence that his grandfather was killed by a bull attack. <\/p>\n
An official of the company investigated and the truth came out. The manager of the insurance company has filed a case of fraud against 4 people including the deceased’s sister at Kasganj Police Post. <\/p>\n
Mohammad Qasim Ansari, in-charge of Aligarh branch of Shriram General Insurance Company, has filed a complaint at the police station stating that Sonpal, a resident of Kasganj, was insured for the accident from January 24, 2020 to January 23, 2021. 6 more insurance policies were issued in the name of Sonpal and in these policies, family members were included as the entitlement. <\/p>\n
On August 19, 2020, Sonpal’s grandson Gaurishankar filed a petition with the companies claiming Sonpal’s death. The claim states that Sonpal died at around 4 am on March 22 when she was sleeping in the courtyard of her house when she was attacked by a bull. <\/p>\n
When the insurance company investigated, it was found that Sonpal had been living at his sister Ramvati’s house for the last 35 years. She is the wife of Roshan Lal, a resident of Mamo in Kasganj. Sonpal’s sister Ramvati and her relatives had taken out 7 different accident insurance policies from January 16 to February 16, 2020, about two months before Sonpal’s death. <\/p>\n
The claim of all these policies was around Rs 70 lakh. Sonpal’s sister Ramvati, nephew Rajendra Singh, grandson Gauri Shankar (son of Rajendra Singh) and granddaughter Urmila Devi were presented as entitled to the policy. <\/p>\n
The investigation revealed that Sonpal was suffering from an incurable disease and died of a heart attack. To claim the insurance, the grandson and other family members presented Sonpal’s death as an accident and tried to get the claim amount. <\/p>\n
Now, the police have registered an FIR on the order of the local court. Inspector Prabesh Rana, in-charge of Kotwali police post, said that further investigation is underway after the FIR has been registered.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
