Kathmandu. Bangladesh, which brought Elon Musk’s Star Link internet, has also launched global INFORMATION technology company Google’s ‘Google Pay’ service. <\/p>\n
This service has been launched in collaboration with Google, Citibank, Mastercard and Visa.\u00a0With this launch, Citibank has become the first bank in Bangladesh to offer Google’s digital wallet services to its customers. <\/p>\n
Google Pay is available in three south Asian countries including Bangladesh. Earlier, Google Pay has introduced digital wallet (non-physical payment) service in India and Pakistan. <\/p>\n
Last month, Bangladesh launched the internet service of Star Link, a US company based on satellite systems. Despite the political crisis and instability in Bangladesh, the government’s stimulus package is attracting foreign investment companies. <\/p>\n
Citibank customers can link their MasterCard or Visa credit and debit cards to Google Wallet, enabling them to use Google Pay for quick, secure and contactless payments locally and internationally. <\/p>\n
Google Pay incorporates advanced encryption techniques to protect user data. This makes it a safe and reliable alternative to non-physical transactions. As a result, users no longer need to carry physical cards \u2014 smartphones become their digital wallets. <\/p>\n
According to Business Standard, Central Bank Governor Ahsan H Mansoor welcomed the launch of Google Pay, expressing optimism about Bangladesh’s attractiveness for both local and foreign investors. <\/p>\n
Highlighting the broader goal of financial inclusion, the Governor said, “We are working to create an inclusive financial system.
