Kathmandu. The non-life insurance companies have to pay a total of Rs 4.03 billion for 781 initial insurance claims due to the incessant rains, floods and landslides in different parts of the country since October 3. Out of this, the companies have paid about Rs 1.87 crore to the insured so far.
As per the updated information received from 13 non-life insurance companies and 2 micro non-life insurance companies till December 3, 410 claims under property insurance have been claimed by non-life insurance companies for about Rs 3.45 billion, while 106 claims for engineering and contract risk insurance have claimed Rs 1.90 lakh out of Rs 503.7 million. According to the Nepal Insurance Authority, out of around Rs 41.3 million claimed for 210 claims for agriculture and crop insurance, Rs 13.41 lakh has been paid to the insured and Rs 8.72 million out of 40 claims for motor insurance (private) claims.
Similarly, 10 claims under motor insurance (public), Rs 1.2 million for two claims under micro insurance and Rs 985,000 for three claims under marine insurance have been registered. Out of this, Rs 2,62,000 has been paid for a claim towards marine insurance.
