Kathmandu. Kathmandu: The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has decided to shut down unregistered social networks in Nepal from today.
A meeting held at the Ministry today decided to shut down unregistered social networks. A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on September 27, 2018 had given a deadline of one week for the listing of social networks that are yet to be registered in Nepal. The term given by the government ended on Wednesday.
The ministry has forwarded the decision to The Nepal Telecommunication Authority for implementation. After the implementation of the decision, social media including Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter (X) will be closed.
