Cyber attack on Allianz Life, data of more than 1.4 million customers stolen

Kathmandu. Hackers have stolen personal information of more than 1.4 million customers of insurance company Allianz Life in North America.

Allianz said in a statement that the personal information of the customers was stolen through a cyber attack. “On July 16, a malicious threat person gained access to a third-party, cloud-based CRM system used by The Allianz Life Insurance Company (Allianz Life) in North America,” the statement said.

“Using social engineering technologies, hackers have been able to obtain personally identifiable data of most of Allianz Life’s customers, financial professionals and selected Allianz Life employees,” allianz life’s German parent company said in a statement. ’

According to the company, data theft is only related to Allianz Life. The company has disclosed the issue of data theft in an application filed with the Attorney General of the US State of Maine. The company did not say how many people were affected.

In a statement, the company said it had taken “immediate action” to control the breach and had notified the FBI. “There is no evidence of access to the Allianz Life Network or other company systems, including our policy administration system,” the company said. ’

Allianz has more than 125 million customers worldwide. The company said, “We are in the process of contacting and assisting the people affected by this data theft.” ’
