Kathmandu. The Royal Collection Trust has received 3 million pounds (about Rs 56 crore) in insurance for last year’s dramatic robbery at a museum in Paris, France.

The trust received the amount as insurance after two royal items kept on display were stolen from the museum. The annual report of the trust revealed the insurance payment.

Robbers broke and stole cases kept at the exhibition of luxury miniatures of the 18th century. They also stole lavishly decorated snuff boxes. These materials were rented from the Royal Collection of Britain.

Media reports at the time of the robbery last year claimed that the damage was about one million euros. However, the Royal Collection Trust’s annual report puts a figure of 3.02 million pounds as an insurance receipt “in relation to the theft of the snuff box rented to Musi Cognac-J”.

The Trust, a charity that looks after paintings, sculptures, furniture and jewelry in the Royal Collection, published its annual publication on Tuesday. The report states, “The amount received as insurance will be deposited in the fund earmarked for the prosperity of the museum.” ’

The two items stolen from the Royal Collection include the snuff box (depicting the birth of Venus) believed to have been made in Germany in the 18th century and the fabric royal snuff box (fabric royal), made in Germany in the 18th century and studded with about 3,000 diamonds.

Before being captured by Soviet authorities in 1917, the Royal Box of cloth belonged to the Russian royal family. It was later purchased in 1932 by George V’s wife, Queen Mary.

French newspaper Le Monde reported that the robbery was carried out by four masked attackers. They came on a scooter. Bancharo then broke the exhibition cases, shocking museum visitors.
